Creative Europe Programme

Creative Europe is a EU-funded programme in the fields of culture, creative and audiovisual industries. It’s open to those who work in the fields of culture or media and have interesting project ideas. The programme was launched in 2014 and will last until 2020. Today, it covers 41 countries, including EU Member States, countries of the Eastern Partnership and the European Free Trade Association. Ukraine joined the programme on 01 January 2016. The programme covers three main sectors — culture, creative and audiovisual industries. Its overall budget is EUR 1.46 billion.

The key priorities of the programme are:

  • transnational mobility
  • audience development
  • new business models
  • digitisation
  • training and education

Creative Europe consists of two sub-programmes:

Culture which aims to promote the creative and cultural sectors;

Media which aims to promote the development and distribution of audiovisual works.

At least 56% of the overall budget has been allocated for Media sub-programme, 31% — for Culture sub-programme, and another 13% — for Cross-sector strand.

Culture sub-programme has four funding channels: European Platforms, European Networks, European Cooperation Projects and Literary Translations.

Any organization, regardless of its form of ownership, that was registered as legal entity at least two years ago may apply for participation in the project.
