The Ukrainian project "What is it to remember", which was supported by the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, received the prestigious international Red Dot Design Award. This is an annual award in the field of design, presented by the Institute of Land Design Center Nordrhein. The Ukrainian project received the Red Dot award: Best of the Best. Accordingly, it will appear in the "RedDot" museum in Germany.

"The awarding means not only high recognition by the professional community, but also the fact that designers from all over the world will get acquainted with the history of our losses caused by Russian aggression through visual symbols, and the identity of the project will become part of the "Red Dot" exhibition in the German city of Essen. For us, this opportunity to communicate Ukraine's losses in this war since 2014 is very important, especially at the time when many people are under the illusion that the war began on February 24, 2022. Our goal is to show that Russian aggression has been going on for 9 years, and unfortunately, it is getting bigger and bigger. And Ukraine is losing citizens in this war", – said project author Oksana Ivantsiv.

The project "What is it to remember" is a complex of cross-disciplinary study, an in-depth analysis of the policy and existing practices of commemorating the fallen soldiers in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

"We chose the dream as the logo, which is the official symbol of the Day of Remembrance of Defenders of Ukraine. With the help of Ferma's spiral, the sunflower was transformed into a dynamic image, where the image of the seeds hints at bullet holes with its outlines, – says Milena Babina, art director of the project. – The final element of the identity was a red drop, as a symbol of a wound, of a war that has been going on for the 9th year and is becoming increasingly bloody. We dedicate the victory in the Red Dot Design Award to the heroes of Ukraine and express our boundless gratitude to every person who is currently protecting the Motherland".
