On 25–27 June Via Carpatia-2021 Forum took place to mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence under the slogan «Capital of Freedom: 30 Years of Cultural Independence». Tetiana Lyshnevets, Head of the Project Department of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, also discussed the topics at the intersection of culture and politics together with leading political scientists, historians, culturologists, writers, and directors within the framework of the Forum in Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

«The Ukrainian Cultural Foundation is the best thing that has happened in Ukrainian culture since independence. Due to the proper legislative initiatives in 2017, a state institution was formed which became a state strategic tool for the cultural product implementation», - said Tetiana Lyshnevets.

Over the years, the Foundation has financed more than 1.5 thousand projects, and, accordingly, the same number of cultural products have been created, as well as artistic initiatives worth a total of UAH 2.5 billion have been implemented. This is USD 100 million for 4 years of the UCF existence. According to the Head of the Project Department of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation, today, we can safely say about the restoration of trust in state institutions which can be clearly seen in the growing number of applicants and projects. While about 293 projects were supported in 2018 owing to the Foundation,

in 2021, we are talking about 600. In total for 4 years, the Foundation received about 10 thousand applications from cultural institutions.

“This year’s financial demand for the implementation of cultural projects amounted to UAH 3.5 billion. So a lot has been done. And this is due to the proper legislative initiatives. The UCF is a new type of institution. Not only for understanding the culture and building a culture of understanding but also in the legislative field. We have been dealing with grants since 2018, but only at the end of 2020, the concept of grant appeared in the Tax Code,” said Head of the Project Department, emphasising the Foundation’s achievements.

The Via Carpatia-2021 Forum was held in Kryvorivna and Verkhovyna, Ivano-Frankivsk region, with the support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation and the Ukrainian Book Institute.
