UCF announces an expert selection contest

According to a resolution of the UCF Directorate of 25 October 2019, a contest for selection of experts to the Foundation’s expert councils will be held from 1 November to 6 December 2019 for the purpose of ensuring transparent and efficient selection of projects to be implemented in 2020 with the support from the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

UCF is looking for experienced culture and creative industry specialists who have work experience in the relevant sectors of culture and in project management.

Next year, UCF plans to provide support to projects under the following contest programs:

• Innovative Cultural Product
• Prominent Events 
• Audiovisual Arts
• Education.Exchanges.Residencies.Debuts
• Inclusive Arts
• Networks and Audiences
• Analytics of Culture 
• Culture for Changes
• Culture.Tourism.Regions
• Cultural Capitals of Ukraine

An expert will evaluate only one selected program in one sector of culture and arts in which the expert specializes or has work experience:

• visual arts;
• audial arts;
• audiovisual arts;
• design and fashion;
• performance and stage art;
• cultural heritage;
• literature and publishing;
• cultural and creative industries.

Experts will be nominated to the Foundation’s expert councils in the following two ways:

• self-nomination for the purpose of participating in the expert selection contest;
• nomination by a specialized cultural institution for the purpose of participating in the expert selection contest.

Requirements to candidates for the Foundation’s experts:

• higher education of at least second level;
• at least three years of professional experience in the relevant sector;
• at least three years of experience in project management, in particular, experience in project budgeting and/or experience in evaluation of cultural and art projects;
• knowledge of business Ukrainian;
• impeccable business reputation.

Candidates applying for Culture for Changes program are also required to be fluent in German.

The procedure of selecting candidates to expert councils is regulated by the Rules of Procedure of the Commission for Selection of Experts to UCF Expert Councils.

The experts who will pass a selection contest will be invited to a training course under selected programs.

The selected experts will evaluate programs during February-March 2020.

Project applications will be evaluated online via the project management system, a separate module on the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation’s website. The engagement of experts in project evaluation will depend on the number of contest applications received.  

A separate legal agreement will be signed with every expert, and the expert’s fee will be paid, based on the number of applications reviewed, according to the Methodology of Calculating the Amount of Payments Due to Experts of UCF Expert Councils approved by the Resolution 949 of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of 31 October 2018.
