A training session for experts of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation was held in the National Library of Ukraine named after Yaroslav the Wise in Kyiv on February 13. The Foundation team familiarized the experts with project application assessment rules and criteria along with the presentation of the UCF’s activity priorities, in line with recently published Strategy and new grant programmes.

In her opening speech, Yuliia Fediv, the UCF’s Executive Director, emphasized the importance of a experts’ responsible attitude towards the assessment of project applications. The main part of the training started with the speech of Victoria Volkovynska, the Legal Support Department Head, on general legal issues and ways to prevent and resolve conflicts of interests, etc.

The methodology for project evaluation was highlighted by Natalia Ivanchenko, the Expert Department Head, focusing the audience on general principles of legality, professionalism, impartiality, and objective reasoning of the decisions taken. The project assessment procedure was also gradually explained, the deadlines for project assessment were indicated, and a number of practical session were conducted.

Please be reminded that the UCF recently updated its list of expert councils. The new database includes experts involved last year, cooperation with whom has been extended, along with new candidates who submitted their documents to the competition and passed the technical and practical stages of Ukrainian Cultural Foundation’s Expert Competition.
